Yusuf Cat Stevens – 1 Father and Son – Con Testo e Traduzione

Scritta e interpretata da Cat Stevens, Father and Son è una canzone inserita nell’album Tea for the Tillerman, pubblicato nel 1970.

Si tratta di un dialogo tra padre e figlio, dove il secondo esprime il bisogno di iniziare una nuova vita e il primo che non ne comprende la ragione e lo invita a godere di quello che ha.

In origine il brano fu scritto per un musical chiamato Revolussia ed ambientato durante la rivoluzione russa. Doveva parlare quindi di un ragazzo che voleva unirsi ai moti rivoluzionari, nonostante il parere contrario del genitore. Il progetto per il musical non si realizzò e Father and Son fu rivista e pubblicata ugualmente.

Martedì 18 febbraio 2014 Cat Stevens, ora Yusuf Cat Stevens, dopo la sua conversione all’Islam nel 1977, ha interpretato il brano durante la 1^ Serata del 64º Festival della Canzone Italiana
